I’m a twenty-something on a budget who loves cooking and eating flavorful food from every culture, and enjoys trying new dishes. Cooking–especially without a recipe–lets me exercise my creativity, bond with my loved ones, and feel a sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of time and energy to cook and clean up afterwards. So, I’m constantly seeking out recipes that take a short time to make, involve few ingredients, and don’t produce a lot of dirty dishes. Some omissions may surprise you–I don’t have a slow cooker and I find assembling, disassembling, and cleaning out the blender more work than it’s worth most of the time–so you won’t find many recipes requiring these.
While I use recipes when cooking something new, I most enjoy just adding ingredients, taste testing often, and cooking until food looks, feels, and smells the way I want it to. I’ve chosen pictures and written instructions with this style of cooking in mind–but the quantities and directions are precise enough in case you prefer following recipes closely.
I didn’t invent the recipes posted here. They come from a variety of cookbooks and websites, and I’ll always link back to the source. This is basically my own personal cookbook, started because I’ve collected so many recipes to try that my phone app keeps crashing, and it would be unfeasible to print them all. Hopefully, though, you’ll find this useful too.
